The glib-devel package includes the static libraries and header files for the support library for the GIMP's X libraries (GTK+ and GDK), which are available as public libraries. This package is a beta version of the next release of GLib. You should only install this package if you are a developer who wants to start developing against new versions of GLib and the GTK+ widget library.
